Teen Therapy

Sometimes, anxiety, school stress, identity struggles, or family conflict can feel overwhelming for teens. At Core Connections Psychology Centre, teen therapy offers a safe, supportive space where adolescents can explore their thoughts and feelings, build emotional awareness, and develop the coping skills and resilience needed to navigate this challenging stage of life.

Helping teens feel seen, supported,
and understood.

Sometimes, teens can feel overwhelmed by big emotions, stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, or longing for a deeper connection to themselves and others. Teen therapy provides a safe, supportive space where adolescents can explore what’s happening beneath the surface, make sense of their feelings, and develop the tools to move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust.

At Core Connections Psychology Centre, we help teens not only process difficult emotions, but also develop awareness, insight, self-compassion, and practical coping skills to navigate everyday challenges. Through therapy, your teen can learn to better recognize their needs, regulate intense emotions, set healthy boundaries, and shift patterns that may be holding them back.

This is more than problem-solving—adolescent counselling is a space to reconnect with oneself, build emotional resilience, and grow into the version of themselves that feels confident, grounded, and empowered.

Smiling Student

Does you teen talk about struggles with any of the following …

  • Feeling anxious, panicky, or worried all the time

  • Feeling sad, down, or like they’ve lost interest in things they used to enjoy

  • Getting easily frustrated or angry with family, friends, or teachers

  • Strong mood swings or emotions that feel out of control

  • Constantly putting themselves down or feeling really self-critical

  • Struggling with school stress, homework, or pressure to succeed

  • Feeling nervous around friends, having trouble making or keeping friends, or dealing with peer pressure

  • Experiencing tension or conflict at home with parents or siblings

Therapy gives teens a safe space to be heard, understand their feelings, learn ways to cope, and feel more confident and connected—to themselves, their friends, and their family.

What is Teen Therapy

In person therapy located in Collingwood or Newmarket and  virtually across Ontario

Teen therapy is a place to pause, check in, and begin to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. Your teen may be navigating anxiety, depression, school stress, self-esteem challenges, peer pressure, or conflicts at home. Perhaps this is their first time trying therapy, or you’ve noticed they need support - but something needs to change.

Whether your teen is feeling overwhelmed, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or struggling to feel “like themselves,” therapy provides a safe space to reflect, process, and start building skills for meaningful change.

Some sessions may focus on making sense of past experiences, family dynamics, or social challenges that influence how your teen feels and interacts with others. Other sessions may be more practical—learning strategies to manage emotions, cope with stress, set healthy boundaries, or navigate school and peer relationships.

Over time, teen therapy can help your adolescent build greater self-awareness, develop resilience, strengthen connections with family and friends, and grow into a version of themselves that feels confident, grounded, and supported.

Approaches we use in Teen Therapy

Processing and healing the impact of trauma and distressing memories.

By weaving together these approaches, therapy can help your loved one notice patterns that are keeping them feeling stuck, develop tools for emotional regulation, and gently shift ways of coping that no longer serve them.

What Sessions Might Look Like

Every teen’s therapy journey is unique. Some sessions may focus on exploring experiences that have shaped how your teen sees themselves, their friendships, or their family relationships. Other sessions may focus on practical strategies - like managing stress, coping with school pressure, navigating peer relationships, or improving communication at home and with friends. Together, we’ll decide what feels most helpful and supportive for your teen.
