Family Therapy
Every family experiences challenges. Whether you're navigating ongoing conflict, a major life transition, or feeling disconnected from one another, family therapy provides a supportive space to better understand what's happening beneath the surface and help families learn to communicate better and repair their relationship.
At Core Connections Psychology Centre, we believe families do their best when everyone feels heard, understood, and emotionally safe. Family therapy helps family members strengthen communication, repair relationships, navigate conflict, and build deeper emotional connection so your family can move forward together.

Repairing after emotional rupture in the relationship
You don't have to figure it out alone. Family therapy helps families better understand one another, improve communication, heal relationship ruptures and strengthen the relationships that matter most.
Family therapy focuses on the relationships between family members rather than placing blame on any one individual. Together, we explore the patterns, emotions, and interactions that may be contributing to ongoing challenges.
Rather than asking, "Who is the problem?" we ask, "What is happening within the family system?"
Our therapists work collaboratively with families to better understand each person's experience, improve communication, strengthen emotional bonds, and develop healthier ways of responding to one another.
Depending on your family's needs, sessions may include parents, children, siblings, caregivers, or other important family members.
Family therapy is for any Families of any age - we treat families during all seasons of life including Families with young children, Families with teens, Adult Families and Seniors.
Approaches we use in Family Therapy
At Core Connections Psychology Centre, we draw on evidence-based models designed for families that is attachment-informed, trauma-sensitive also inclusive and affirming of neurodivergent individuals, people with developmental differences, and families navigating mental health concerns.
Our work with families includes:
Practical tools for improving communication, reducing conflict, and building lasting relationship skills.
Integrative Approaches:
Drawing from DBT skills, CBT and Psychodynamic approaches to help families regulate emotions, shift patterns, and heal together
By weaving together these approaches, therapy can help you notice patterns that are keeping your family feeling stuck, develop tools for emotional regulation, and gently shift ways of coping that no longer serve your family
What Sessions Might Look Like
Family therapy is not about deciding who is right or wrong.
Instead, therapy creates a safe and respectful environment where every family member has the opportunity to feel heard and understood.
Together, we'll work to identify unhelpful interaction patterns, understand the emotions driving conflict, and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding to one another.
Depending on your family's goals, therapy may focus on improving communication, repairing relationships, strengthening parenting partnerships, navigating life transitions, or supporting a child or adolescent through emotional or behavioural challenges.
