Hi, I'm Marguerite McCarron
As a parent, it can be incredibly difficult to watch your child struggle. You may have noticed changes in their behaviour, emotions, confidence, or relationships and feel unsure of how to help. Perhaps your teen seems withdrawn, overwhelmed, or anxious, or your family is navigating a challenging transition that has left everyone feeling disconnected. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to figure it out alone.
I believe that every child, teen, and family has unique strengths, and with the right support, healing and growth are possible. My goal is to create a safe, accepting, and engaging space where children and adolescents feel understood, while also partnering closely with parents and caregivers to support meaningful, lasting change.
My Approach
I recognize that children often communicate differently than adults. While adults typically express themselves through conversation, children frequently communicate through play, creativity, and their behaviour. That's why I integrate both play therapy and talk therapy, adapting my approach to meet each child or teen where they are developmentally and emotionally.
I work with children, adolescents, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional regulation challenges, behavioural concerns, family conflict, school-related difficulties, life transitions, grief, self-esteem concerns, and relationship challenges.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and relationship-focused. I strive to build strong connections not only with my young clients, but also with the important adults in their lives. I believe parents and caregivers are an essential part of the therapeutic process, and I work alongside families to better understand what's happening beneath the surface, strengthen communication, and foster healthy emotional development at home.
With over 30 years experience in child and adolescent mental health I draw from training in Play Therapy, Theraplay and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) . These approaches inform an understanding of child-parent interactional dynamics and facilitate the development of more satisfying and healthy relationships within families. I am trauma and attachment informed and tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each child, adolescent or young adult - including neurodivergent individuals. I also support parents and families struggling with relationship concerns. I use evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) , Psychodynamic Therapy, and offer both psycho-education and tools for anxiety, mood and behavioural issues.
My Experience
I am a Registered Psychotherapist committed to providing compassionate, evidence-informed care for children, adolescents, and families. Throughout my career, I have supported young people experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges, helping them build resilience, strengthen emotional awareness, and develop healthier ways of coping.
My work is grounded in the understanding that every child's experiences, relationships, and developmental journey are unique. I am passionate about creating a therapeutic environment where children and teens feel safe enough to express themselves authentically while helping parents gain a deeper understanding of their child's emotional world.
I am committed to ongoing professional learning and continually expand my knowledge and skills to provide the highest quality care for the families I work with.
