Hi, I'm Javier Becerra
I am a social worker who is passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges and discover joy, resilience, and meaning. I help people when they are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to move forward. These struggles can show up as anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or challenges coping with life transitions. My goal is to create a supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to build the life you want. Together, we’ll explore coping strategies, skill-building, and self-awareness to foster growth, fulfillment, and connection.
My Approach
My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and authentic. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and empathy, while helping clients navigate challenges in a way that feels meaningful and real. My approach is informed by over a decade of frontline experience, supporting people through painful life situations and helping them make sense of their experiences while coping and finding strength.
I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, EMDR, and trauma-focused work. Storytelling is central to my work; by co-creating new narratives, we can challenge negative self-perceptions, reclaim agency, and build a more empowering life story. I also provide practical strategies, exercises, and reflections between sessions so growth continues beyond the therapy room, because meaningful change happens both inside and outside of therapy.
My Expereince
I have over a decade of experience working in social work and mental health, supporting individuals, families, and children in their homes, communities, and private practice. I’ve worked alongside people navigating a wide range of challenges; emotional, relational, and systemic, including barriers related to housing, access to resources, and complex life transitions. My work has given me a deep understanding of how personal experiences intersect with broader social systems, and how resilience and growth can emerge even in difficult circumstances.
I draw from evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care, always applied in a way that is compassionate, practical, and tailored to each person’s unique situation. I am committed to helping clients recognize their strengths, develop resilience, and create meaningful strategies for lasting change in both their daily lives and long-term goals.
A little bit about me ...
Outside of work, I’m a husband, and a father of two little ones, which keeps life exciting, unpredictable, and full of perspective! I enjoy staying active, whether that’s training for a marathon or finding new ways to challenge myself physically and mentally. I also love seeing the world through my children’s eyes and finding joy in everyday moments with family.
