Alix Cowie,
Individual and Couples Therapist
I am a psychologist who helps people get to the heart of what’s going on — beneath the surface patterns, the emotional shutdowns, the relationship struggles, or the self-doubt that just won’t quiet down.

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked in the field of mental health, supporting individuals and couples and families through life’s messier, more tender places. My approach is warm, collaborative, and emotionally focused. Whether I’m working with someone navigating a big life transition, healing from past trauma, or trying to feel close in a relationship again, I meet people with care, curiosity, and deep respect for their lived experience.

I draw from evidence-based approaches including Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Mindful Self-Compassion. I work with in attachment and trauma-informed practices — all grounded in the belief that healing happens when we feel truly understood, safe, seen and supported.

My clients describe me as down-to-earth, steady, and insightful. I’m not afraid to go deep — but we’ll always go at your pace.

This work is personal to me. I know how hard it can be to carry pain that no one sees, or to feel disconnected from yourself or your relationships. I also know that change is possible — not by pushing past your emotions, but by making space to understand them.

Whether you’re coming to therapy for clarity, connection, or relief, I’d be honoured to support you.
My Story
I've always felt a deep pull toward understanding people and the intricacies of relationships. From an early age, I knew that becoming a psychologist wasn’t just a career path—it was a calling. My own personal journey of self-discovery is what led me into this work. Along the way, I learned that true healing begins when we tune in to the innate wisdom within our emotions. Emotions are not problems to fix—they are meaningful signals that help us understand our needs, our histories, and our connections.

Through both personal experience and professional training, I've come to believe deeply in the healing power of relationships. The quality of our closest bonds shapes our sense of safety, identity, and well-being. I bring this belief into every session—helping individuals and couples explore the emotional patterns that keep them stuck, and guiding them toward deeper connection, clarity, and change.
